I am a former editor at Marketplace, the public radio business news program, responding to a comment you posted on a series titled “The Price of Profits,” in 2016. I was the editor of the series, but I retired a few months later and stopped monitoring the comments. Somehow I overlooked yours.
You said you’d sent Marketplace editors your latest study of an ecosystem shift in income levels in 1970 a month or so before “The Price of Profits” aired, and asked if your work was an unattributed inspiration for the project. It’s eight years later – I just happened, today, to look back at the series and the comments – and you deserve a response, however late.
No. I never saw your study and was unaware of your work. Had I been aware, you might have been a great person to interview.
My team began discussing the series a year before it aired, and I launched my reporters six months before it aired.
But it’s still an issue, isn’t it?
Best,
George Judson
