{"id":668,"date":"2011-11-29T16:40:59","date_gmt":"2011-11-29T20:40:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.synapse9.com\/signals\/?p=668"},"modified":"2013-09-11T09:47:27","modified_gmt":"2013-09-11T14:47:27","slug":"the-trap-at-the-end-of-low-hanging-fruit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/synapse9.com\/signals\/the-trap-at-the-end-of-low-hanging-fruit\/","title":{"rendered":"The trap at the end of &#8220;Low Hanging Fruit&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">How\u2019s this, for cracking \u201cthe mind wall\u201d\u2026??<br \/>\n(the supreme arrogance of treating knowledge as reality)<\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been showing people interesting ways to make use the difference between our mental and physical worlds for many years. \u00a0 Here&#8217;s another. \u00a0 If it hits an important principle, or suggests any way you might use it, I&#8217;d be glad to know\u00a0and to see if I can adjust my language to fit your idea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\"><em style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>The natural end of &#8220;low hanging fruit&#8221; is &#8220;falling off the ladder&#8221;,<\/strong><\/em><em style=\"text-align: -webkit-auto;\"><strong> a universal trap at the natural limits of reach, where rising risks meet declining energy to respond to them (if your plan is to keep climbing).<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: center;\"><em><strong>(as increasing your control of the unknown exposes environmental hazards naturally first omitted from any model)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"picking apples\" src=\"https:\/\/synapse9.com\/issues\/images\/picking_apples.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The natural limit of &quot;low hanging fruit&quot;, meeting the rising risks at the limits of reach, with declining ability to respond to them<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Intellectuals in particular, have had difficulty accepting we can be quite certain of finding some things in the unknown, like the dual reality confronted in any observer\u2019s mind, as it finds its world works differently than they think.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8230;..<em><strong><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"GirlCircle\" src=\"https:\/\/synapse9.com\/issues\/images\/@girlCirc2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"50\" \/>&#8230;..<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong> <\/strong><\/em>Intellectuals commonly fall prey to saying their reality has to be based on their information, for example.\u00a0 \u00a0It results in \u201cinnocent\u201d puzzles like the unclear meaning of things they don\u2019t have information about, such as \u201cthe sound of a tree falling in the woods that no one hears\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\"><em><strong>Human knowhow doesn\u2019t exist in a vacuum, though.\u00a0 It exploits an unknown natural world, and denying the unknown limits of a mind\u2019s ability to control the unknown is a mortal hazard. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\" style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<dl class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 210px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><em><strong><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Response to discovery\" src=\"https:\/\/synapse9.com\/issues\/images\/NatAwarenessSM.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" \/><\/strong><\/em><\/dt>\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\">Responding to the limits of reach \u00a0in time<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>Human \u201cknowhow\u201d expands when using and testing information. \u00a0It also generally does increase in one\u2019s ability to control one\u2019s unknown environment, with effort. \u00a0\u00a0One needs to be watchful, though, to avoid the certain natural trap at the end.\u00a0 That\u2019s where at the limits of reach into the unknown one finds increasing costs and decreasing returns, perhaps suddenly becoming insufficient to continue the process.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Denying the need to be watchful, until after falling prey to that trap, keeps you from learning about it in time.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>At some point increasing knowhow will produce decreasing returns insufficient to continue the effort, either by 1) losing control for being unable to cover its energy costs or 2) taking control, by choosing to divert profits to something else.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong> <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong> <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong> <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How\u2019s this, for cracking \u201cthe mind wall\u201d\u2026??
