Further links to natural growth strategy below.  &#8211;  Jessie Henshaw <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you for coming.\u00a0\u00a0 <br>Find more of my statement and links at  www.synapse9.com\/signals<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My name is Jessie Henshaw.&nbsp; I\u2019m a natural systems scientist who developed\na fascination with how living systems transform as they develop, such as how\nour economy once changed by small accumulating steps that got bigger and bigger.&nbsp; Those ever-increasing rates and kinds of\nchange are the key reason there are natural limits to growth.&nbsp; Growth is itself an organizational process that\npushes economies and their organizations in the direction of increasingly\ndisruptive limits.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, walking down the street\nby bigger and bigger steps, making more and more progress at first and would\nlead to losing control, and a painful fall.&nbsp;&nbsp;\nSimilarly, in the last 250 years, the world economy doubled its annual expansion\nabout 12 times, so our annual expansions today are about the size of the entire\nworld economy of 1920, truly enormous.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-pale-cyan-blue-color wp-block-paragraph\"><em>In part, we experience that as universal pressure, for increased economic performance from all people, all organizations, all societies, and of course, all of nature too.\u00a0 We are also feel surrounded by systems failing to keep up, and in crisis, crying for help, that we find hard to deliver.\u00a0 <\/em> <em>So today the true location of the most \u201cvulnerable people\u201d and most \u201cvulnerable regions,\u201d struggling with unmanageable demands, is now truly the whole earth.<\/em>  (to cut for time)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At first, the economy\u2019s growing\ndemands were not overwhelming, and seemed very rewarding for large sectors,\nhaving a negligible impact on the earth as a whole too.&nbsp; Continually multiplying them changed all that.&nbsp; Now they disrupt every environment and are breaking\nthrough all silos of discussion.&nbsp; Now we\nsee there was no \u201ceconomic decoupling,\u201d but just detachment from our responsibility.&nbsp; Now we look around and see an enormous diversity\nof crises that were not supposed to materialize, and need to decide what to do.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We need an \u201ceconomic <em>recoupling<\/em>\u201d with our responsibilities\nfor the earth and humankind.&nbsp;&nbsp; An easy\nfirst step is to think of your responsibility for steering the economy as equal\nto your share of the economy.&nbsp; It may\nseem small, but in a global economy where it takes the whole world to deliver\nevery product or service, we are similarly responsible for a share of every\nharm caused too. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/synapse9.com\/_R3ref\/GroToClimaxL.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"289\" height=\"158\"\/><figcaption>Nature&#8217;s integral: joining the multiplication of parts (red) with the refinement of their designs and uses (blue) to prepare for LIFE (green) as the reward in the end<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The path ahead I see, for transforming\nthe economy is to change from <em>compound\ngrowth<\/em> to <em>natural growth<\/em>,&nbsp; climaxing growth at a peak of resilience and vitality,\nready for a secure, enduring and creative life on earth.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align:center\">________________________________________________________<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align:center\"><strong>The Economic Path to Natural Growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PDF slides: <a href=\"https:\/\/synapse9.com\/_SDinteg\/PathToNatGrowth.pdf\">https:\/\/synapse9.com\/_SDinteg\/PathToNatGrowth.pdf<\/a><br>2019 Jul 2 Talk 30 min: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=w5Cz7vc0-c4\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=w5Cz7vc0-c4<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2019 UN HLPF side event scheduled Tuesday July 10 2019 1:15 to 2:45 at the UN Millennium Hilton, 3min statement.
